Having lots of fun being my own VJ using a combination of OBS, Magic Music Visualisation, Milkdrop and (if I can wrap my brain around it) Touch Designer.
Using a MIDI controller, I can switch video sources from e.g. camera to shaders to spout receiver which means not having to jump into the video section of VDJ to change source. So far so good.
All the software mentioned above has a spout sender. I can use MIDI via VDJ to switch to spout, but i can't use MIDI to change the spout sender i.e. choose a different source. I have to open SpoutPanel (which doesn't have MIDI mapping) and manually choose the spout source.
Is there any way to have more than one spout receiver available? If so, I could do it with MIDI. I am happy to use a different spout plugin if that is what is required.

If I get the gist of what you are saying... you want software like milkdrop to pick up the audio from vdj to create graphics, but the software cant listen to the controller output??
If this is correct, then set the pc audio to default (i.e. internal soundcard,) and not the controller,
in VDJ add another master out and assign it to the computer default. (ensure the exclusive audio is not turned on in the options )
I send the output to two additional for live streaming. in the picture the audio to the corsair headset is picked up by milkdrop and the audio to the sound blaster is captured for the stream
